FLANDERS, NJ, January 6, 2004 - Larry Kalmis, Fellow of the Business Continuity Institute (FBCI), has recently been named Chairman of Business Continuity Institute (BCI). The BCI is an international professional certification body for business continuity based in the United Kingdom. Larry is the first American elected chair of the BCI board and was most recently vice chairperson. He has been an active member since BCI's founding in 1994. Larry is a BCM professional with a proven record of accomplishments.
In his new role as Chairman, Larry will focus on improving awareness of business continuity management as a profession, promoting good practices and standardized methodologies and advancing synergistic relationships with related disciplines. Additionally, Larry is the recipient of the prestigious US based Contingency Planning and Management's Magazine Hall of Fame 2003 Award in the Vendor Practitioner Category.
With over 30 years of business continuity experience, Larry helped lead several successful recoveries stemming from the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, the downtown Chicago flood, and the South Street Seaport Consolidated Edison Substation fire. Larry is also an author and frequent presenter at domestic and international conferences, as well as serving on numerous planning committees supporting both public and private sector recovery initiatives.
Larry is a Project Executive with Virtual Corporation and has been instrumental in the development of the Business Continuity Maturity ModelSM (BCMM).
