Background Information
In October of this year, Virtual Corporation released the Business Continuity Maturity ModelSM, which provides any interested party with the fundamental tools to answer three primary questions posed by senior management:
A. Where are we now?
What level of BC program maturity do we currently possess?
B. What is the target we are shooting for?
What level of BC program maturity is our ultimate goal?
C. What should we do next?
What enhancements to our BC program should be implemented next to maximize business protection?
While the model provides extensive data for measuring business continuity program performance, in the absence of a standardized methodology that is consistently applied, the model does not by itself, address two critical BCMMSM performance goals:
1. Provide a diagnostic tool for repeatable, objective evaluation of business continuity program effectiveness.
2. Generate meaningful data from which useful benchmark analyses could be drawn.
To achieve these important goals, Virtual Corporation has created an assessment methodology, toolkit, training platform, and support organization to ensure that when an assessment is conducted, the results are consistent and accurate.
