Virtual Corporation Releases Web-based Version 1.2 of the Business Continuity Maturity Model®, a standard for benchmark analysis

FLANDERS, NJ, August 4, 2005, Virtual Corporation, Inc., a consulting services corporation, announces the release of their web-based software Business Continuity Maturity Model® (BCMM®) Version 1.2. Virtual Corporation's BCMM® is a comprehensive tool to evaluate the level of enterprise business continuity preparedness. The BCMM® provides a consistent, objective means for evaluating disaster readiness. In addition to business recovery, the model addresses security management, incident management and technology recovery.

This new version has updated the BCMM® Questionnaire to reflect the latest enhancements made to the model. The BCMM® 1.2 web-based version is accessible only to BCMM® licensed assessors.

Virtual Corporation conducts 2-day training seminars for business continuity professionals to become licensed BCMM® assessors and has trained professionals from Canada, Australia, England and Korea. Companies can train their internal business continuity or audit professionals or engage an external consultant to perform an independent assessment. Assessment results can be used for investment, insurance, and other financial and risk management decisions.

Since introducing the Business Continuity Maturity Model® Version 1.0 in October of 2003, over 2,000 people in over 40 countries have viewed the BCMM® version. The BCMM® can be downloaded at no charge from Virtual Corporation's web site at www.virtual-corp.net. The BCMM® Version 1.2 incorporates a repeatable methodology that addresses how to perform a "self-assessment", applying these milestones within the organization. This enables the business to compare the maturity level as their internal programs are developed. This can also be more broadly applied to the evaluation of a supply chain or a strategic business partnership, helping evaluate their disaster readiness.

The concept for the BCMM® emerged in 1997 when Virtual Corporation's President, Scott Ream, spoke with several business continuity professionals regarding the need to find a way to objectively benchmark their business continuity management programs. Since then, several surveys have been conducted and published describing performance by industry, company size and other demographics. The results supported the need for an objective diagnostic and benchmarking tool. In April 2002, a working team comprised of cross-industry practitioners was formed as the instrument through which experience, consultation, and advice could be harvested. Working team members came from a variety of industries, including telecommunications, manufacturing, energy, and banking.
